- Civil Marriages - performed by the Registrar
General, Wardens & Marriage Officers
- Hindu Marriages - performed only by Marriage
Officers
- Muslim Marriages - performed only by
Marriage Officers
- Orisa Marriages - performed only by Marriage
Officers
Registration of Marriage:
• Marriage Officers must register the marriage immediately
after it is solemnized
• In Trinidad, registration is done at the Registrar
General's Department, POS
• In Tobago, registration is done at the Registrar General's
Department, Scarborough
Marriage Certificates:

Marriage certificates are obtainable at Registrar General's
Departments in Port of Spain, San Fernando, Arima and
Scarborough

The fee for a marriage certificate is $25.00
-
The certificate will be issued within five (5) working
days
To obtain a Certificate
Please provide the following information to the Registrar
General's Department:
• Type of Marriage
• Date of Marriage
• Date of Marriage
• Names of Parties
and produce valid ID.
The only legal proof of your marriage is
the certified copy document from the Registrar General's Department
