What you should know...
The Legal Aid and Advisory Authority was established
to provide legal advice and aid to members of the
public
The Authority was established in 1976
The initial fee for accessing service is $10.00
The public may seek legal aid for representation
in a variety of matters like maintenance, custody,
access, applications under the Domestic Violence Act,
ejectment proceedings and others
Services
Legal advice on general areas of law
Legal aid in civil matters including family and
property matters, grant of letters of administration
and probate up to $100,000.00 and landlord and tenant
issues
Legal Aid in criminal matters where the applicant
is charged. In this regard it is granted on the discretion
of the magistrate or judge
