  1. What kinds of documents can I get at the Registrar General’s Department?
    The documents which can be obtained at the Registrar General’s Department, are birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, company registration and land registration.

  2. Where can I apply for a birth certificate or death certificate?
    You can apply for a Birth and Death certificate at any of the Civil Registry offices at Registration House, South Quay. P.O.S, Tel: 623-7163; Harris Promenade San Fernando, Tel: 657-9597; 32E Pro Queen St Arima, Tel: 667-1700; Jerningham St, Scarborough, Tobago, Tel: 639-3210.

  3. What kinds of marriages are recognized in Trinidad & Tobago?
    Several marriages recognized in Trinidad & Tobago. They include Civil Marriages, which are performed by the Registrar General, Wardens & Marriage Officers; and Hindu, Muslim and Orisa Marriages which are performed only by marriage officers.

  4. What if I am visiting Trinidad & Tobago and wish to get married here?
    If you and your intended spouse are visitors to Trinidad and Tobago and wish to get married here you will need to be issued a special marriage licence. To obtain this you will need to provide ID for yourself and your partner, proof of entry into Trinidad and Tobago as well as divorce absolute or death certificate of previous spouse and certified translation thereto if applicable. You may obtain this licence at Registration House, 72-74 South Quay, Port of Spain or at any District Warden Office in the area of Trinidad and Tobago that you are visiting. Cost of this licence is TT$300.00.

  5. Which RG office can I visit to register a company?
    To register an organization you would have to go to the Companies Registry at Registration House South Quay, P.O.S and Scarborough, Tobago (Business Names & Companies)

  6. Which RG Office can I visit if I wish to register Land?
    To register Land you would have to go to Land Registry at Registration House, South Quay, P.O.S.
